Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sugar, white granulated
  • 4 star anise1
  • 1 grapefruit, pink
  • 1 grapefruit, ruby
  • 1 grapefruit, white
  • 2 orange
  1. Alternatives would be: anise seeds
Instructions:
  1. Cooking
    1. Bring the water to the boil and add the sugar and star anise.
    2. Stir until sugar has dissolved and pour into a bowl.
    3. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
    4. Cut peel and white pith from grapefruits and oranges with a sharp knife.
    5. Working over a bowl, cut grapefruit and orange sections free from membranes.
    6. Pour off juice released during cutting from bowl and reserve.
    7. Strain syrup into fruit and chill, covered, 30 minutes.
    8. Stir in reserved juice to taste.
