Cumin Spiced Tomato Bruschette

Ingredients:
1/2 tsp cumin seed
1/3 tsp coriander, seed
1/4 tsp peppercorns, black
1 clove garlic, minced (~1 tsp)
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1/4 tsp salt, kosher
1/2 bread, french baguette, whole wheat, halved lenghtwise, then cut into 4 portions
1 lb tomatoes, hot house, halved lengthwise and sliced crosswise 1/4" thick
Instructions:
Prep
Preheat broiler.
Cooking
Toast cumin and coriander seeds in a dry small heavy skillet over medium heat, stirring, until fragrant and a shade darker, about 2 minutes.
Add peppercorns and toast, stirring, 1 minute.
Cool spices, then finely grind in coffee/spice grinder.
Cook garlic in oil in a large heavy pan over medium low heat, stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Stir in spice mixture and salt and cook, stirring, 1 minute.
Brush the cut side of each bread slice with some of spiced oil and transfer, oiled sides up, to a baking sheet.
Add tomatoes to pan and cook, without stirring, until liquid released from tomatoes and simmer 2 minutes, then remove from heat.
Broil bread about 3 inches from heat for 1 minute.
Then top with tomatoes and drizzle with juices remaining in pan.
Broil bruschette about 3 inches from heat until edges of bread are golden, 1 to 2 minutes.
